I’m about to travel abroad and spending money on clothes is beyond me. It has been a few months where I’ve decided to save and splurge my money on traveling and the things that make my mind face a whirlwind of happiness. However, the world doesn’t function with happiness. Life is dandy and swell most of the time and then it’s not. Someone will throw away your leftover pizza, your favorite shirt will disappear, and there is a piece of you that is broken and shattered and can’t be mended. I hate the unfairness of it all. I wrote a blog post not too long ago that was intended to help me through this. It hasn’t yet. I’m no longer buying expensive shirts. My leftovers will not be thrown away. I won’t be too busy for all the peculiar moments that turn into blissful memories.
Let’s get back to the topic of affordable fashion. This off the shoulder dress costs less than $20. Bless SheIn and their reasonably priced products. There are pieces to invest in and there are also pieces to avoid. An off the shoulder dress is neither of these things. I’ve distanced myself from Forever 21. I’m not entirely sure how it all started but one day the notion of just stepping into the store made me feel uneasy.
I thought it might be all stores almost similar to Forever 21 and their mass produced pieces. It wasn’t. It was that particular store. Why? I think it is because as I cleared out my coset to sell on Poshmark, 80% of those pieces came from that particular store. The saying of “throwing my money away” never felt so evident (and sadly appropriate). Summer is right around the corner and, of course, I decided to sell and donate almost all of my summer clothes. I’ll be online shopping and buying cheap pieces here and there that will last all summer long. Recommendations would be amazing. Leave them in the comments below!
